We’ve cooped up our most commonly asked questions and egg-cellent answers to help you plan your visit to Vanderlaand The Barnyard Zoo.

Is there a picnic area?

Yes. You are welcome to bring a snack or picnic lunch.

Can we touch and feed the animals?

Yes. Food is available to purchase for the animals. Petting/touching is a favourite for the animals.

Please wash your hands after touching the animals.

How long is an average visit?

Most of our visitors are here for one to two hours.

What else is there to do at the farm?

We have a large playground area for the kids (human kids; the goats have their own playground).

We also have a variety of events and experiences throughout the year, including:

  • Goat snuggling (February, March, and April, pre-booking required
  • Help Farmer Ruth with the chores (May through September)
  • Goat yoga (summer)
  • Easter at the farm
  • Mother’s Day weekend
  • Father’s Day at the farm
  • Sheep Shearing Day
  • Thanksgiving Weekend
  • Halloween weekend
  • Pumpkins for pigs
  • Christmas trees for critters

What else is available for purchase, besides food for the animals?

We offer bottled water and freezies for purchase.

We also sell farm fresh eggs and farm mugs.

Can we hold the animals?

This is only available for private group and event bookings, such as a birthday party.

Can I bring my dog?

Sorry, no outside pets are allowed.

Service dogs are allowed.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash only please. E-transfer is available if need be. We do not accept debit or credit at this time.

When does your season start or end?

We are open spring, summer and fall, although private farm experiences are available year round.

Are you an animal rescue?

No we are not a rescue, but many of our animals have found our farm by that route.
